Kellyanne Conway claims 'nobody likes' policy of family separation at border

Bannon I don’t believe Trump has ever lied

The US homeland security secretary says the Trump administration will not apologise for separating undocumented immigrant children from their parents. Nor did she mention the fact that, in many cases, these children are not part of a "family unit", but rather strangers to the adults they cross the border with, adults who pretend to be parents in the hope America will "catch and release" them into the country - because catching and releasing them is the only way to keep these families together.

Last month, Nielsen told NPR that her agency is merely enforcing existing laws, and that criticism of the zero tolerance policy "is inappropriate and unacceptable".

Lawmakers, activists, and reporters who have persistently highlighted and denouncedthe Trump administration's family separation policy-which was officially unveiled byAttorney General Jeff Sessions in May-were quick to call out Nielsen's blatant lie on Sunday, pointing out that a quick look at her department's website is enough to expose the falsehood.

"It was a simple decision by the administration to have a zero tolerance policy for illegal entry, period". As such, congressional action is not necessary to stop it. Sessions has said the intent is to eventually prosecute everyone who crosses the border illegally.

Todd Schulte, president of the advocacy group FWD.us, added that the DHS website also contains a flyer outlining "the steps a parent in Border Patrol or ICE custody can take to locate their child, once said child has been separated from them".

Immigration and detention policies came under fire during the Obama administration, which was hit by lawsuits over conditions at facilities, as well as the practice of holding families in detention centers.

"It is important to note that these minors are very well taken care of - don't believe the press - they are very well taken care of", Nielsen said. That is correct. But under US protocol, if parents are jailed, their children are separated from them because the children aren't charged with a crime.

Trump approves plan to impose tough U.S. tariffs on China
Spain's newly appointed agricultural minister, Luis Planas, also opposed the tariff's impact, saying it was unjust. But he signaled that whatever the implications, "I have to do what I have to do" to address the trade imbalance.

Antoine Griezmann has confirmed he will remain with Atletico Madrid
He then Tweeted 'My fans, my team, MY HOME!' to his Atletico fans. He added: "I feel there are things to do with Atletico. This is going to make a difference".

President Donald Trump has attempted to blame Democrats for the separations at the border, but the situation is the sole result of a new Trump Department of Justice policy enacted in early April which mandates that all adults trying to cross the border be treated as criminals.

"If you cross the border unlawfully.we will prosecute you", Sessions said in May. "They can go to our ports of entry if they want to claim asylum".

GOP Sens. Jeff Flake (Ariz.) and Susan Collins (Maine) wrote to the Homeland Security Department (DHS) and Health and Human Services (HHS) Department on Saturday asking for clarity on the administration's practice of separating migrant families.

No federal law requires family separation. Multiple reports have also contradicted Nielsen's claim that asylum-seeking families are not being separated.

Republicans were tentatively planning to offer two bills this week in Congress, one that would sharply curtail legal immigration and another, as yet not revealed, that could draw criticism from conservatives.

Underscoring the emotional tension, first lady Melania Trump, who has tended to stay out of contentious policy debates, waded into the issue.
