Trump urges Republican lawmakers to drop immigration effort

House Republicans fail to pass conservative immigration bill postpone vote on compromise bill

Trump bowed to intense pressure on Wednesday and signed an order ending the separation of children from their families while parents are prosecuted for crossing the border illegally, which had caused uproar at home and overseas.

"Republicans should stop wasting their time on Immigration until after we elect more Senators and Congressmen/women in November", Trump tweeted.

He accused Democratic members with "just playing games" and having "no intention" of helping Republicans "to solves this decades old problem".

Democrats saw the Goodlatte bill as too harsh, and all 190 voted against it Thursday, drawing charges from Trump that they "say no to everything".

Republicans postponed a key Thursday vote on U.S. immigration reform until next week in Congress, as the party's divided factions failed to agree on legislation that addresses the family separation crisis.

"I think the other members are very much in the weeds on this and we're trying to get everybody a consensus bill, if you will, get everybody together, so we need to pass this", said McCaul. After a vote on the more conservative of two GOP proposals failed Thursday, a vote on the more moderate "compromise" bill was pushed off to Friday - and then possibly to next week.

Representative Carlos Curbelo, one of the lawmakers negotiating a Republican compromise immigration bill in the House, said the effort was continuing.

He focused on the fact that young migrants separated from parents are likely to be reunited, unlike the victims of murders. "And every Democrat voted against our DACA fix and solution yesterday".

Thursday, former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey told an audience in London the family separations could be the president's most harmful misstep yet - and suggested Trump is trying to dodge the matter.

Thursday's vote should have been a victory for Republicans, who last week agreed to take up the two measures.

If a bill makes it through the House, it would still have to be supported by several Senate Democrats to pass both houses.

Mohamed Salah to miss Egypt’s first game against Uruguay
Instead, Marwan Mohsen starts up front, with Huddersfield Town man Ramadan Sobhi also not in the starting lineup. With its traditional defensive tactics preferred by Cuper, Egypt badly needs Salah and his goals to succeed.

Trump himself took a hard line on the crisis, accusing the Democrats of telling "phoney stories of sadness and grief".

Lieutenant Colonel Jamie Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said the Pentagon is preparing to shelter as many as 20,000 migrant children on four military bases: Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas; Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas; Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas; and Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene, Texas.

As Republicans in Congress struggled to reach consensus on immigration legislation, the White House has grappled with fierce criticism in recent weeks over the policy that has separated more than 2,300 children from their families.

It was also not clear if the government would keep prosecuting cases against people caught crossing the border illegally.

"I was welcomed here", a tearful Rep. Norma Torres, D-Calif., said during House debate, describing her journey to the U.S.as a child from Guatemala.

Republican leaders said a vote on the bill would occur next week regardless of Trump's wishes.

Trump said the U.S. wants people to come in, but in the proper way.

Besides, said Rep. John Faso, R-N.Y., a supporter of the bill, maybe Trump will change his mind again: "Just wait a few hours, the tweet will be different".

Mr Trump said that even if a measure passed, it was doomed in the Senate.

They said Customs and Border Protection officials argued forcefully that agents who are apprehending migrant families at the border can not refer all the adults for prosecution because the Justice Department does not have the resources to accept all the cases.
