Manchester City vs. Crystal Palace - Football Match Report

Man City player ratings Raheem Sterling was not at his best today

City were surprisingly beaten for the first time at home in the Premier League this season and will spend Christmas four points behind leaders Liverpool in the table.

Crystal Palace came from behind to win 3-2 in a thrilling match which featured a stunning 30-yard volley from Andros Townsend. Brilliant work from Zaha, the ball eventually comes to Schlupp whose shot goes through Walker's legs and flies into the bottom corner.

Aguero, who replaced Nicolas Otamendi as Guardiola chased the game at 2-1, and De Bruyne started the midweek Carabao Cup triumph at Leicester City following recent lay-offs, while Guardiola watched John Stones turn in a mixed performance at the base of his midfield in Fernandinho's injury-enforced absence.

City were then stunned as Palace grabbed a second just two minutes later with Townsend's stunner.

The title-chasing Blue brigade did find the back of the net through a nice and tidy finish from Kevin De Bruyne six minutes to full-time.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's cross found the head of Townsend, whose effort struck the right-hand post, rebounding into play for Max Meyer and forcing a panicked Walker into making a challenge referee Andre Marriner judged to be a foul.

North Korea: We Won't Denuclearize if 'Vicious' US Actions Continue
Just last month, satellite images of North Korea's nuclear test sites were released, suggesting the regime is continuing to develop ballistic missiles.

The fear for Pep Guardiola however will be how Crystal Palace made so much of their rare ventures forward.

But Palace trailed for just six minutes as they surprised City by pushing back. "We are in December and we will try and recover and try and win games again", added Guardiola. City had started to lose their way in the game until De Bruyne entered the field.

Manchester City have looked virtually unstoppable so far this season but Pep Guardiola was wary of Crystal Palace's threat ahead of their game at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

We played good. Their second goal was an incredible goal.

Jeffrey Schlupp and Luka Milivojevic were also on target for the visitors but it is Townsend's goal-of-the-season contender that will take the headlines. There are a lot of games to play.

There was to be one final big chance for City to at least salvage a point, only for Gabriel Jesus to head over the bar from a glorious position once picked out by De Bruyne, meaning a second defeat in three league matches for the home side.
