May says UK's Brexit future lies in MPs' hands

May accuses Labour of pushing Britain towards no-deal Brexit

With the debate taking place just two days before MPs in the Commons have their crunch vote on Mrs May's proposed withdrawal deal, Mr Brown argued more should be done to include alternative views.

She added however that if the deal is rejected, "some people would need to take some practical steps in relation to no deal".

The risk for May is that if she is incapable of advancing a credible alternative path to Brexit, that infamous and elusive plan B, then Parliament will take the decision out of her hands.

Hardline Tory Brexiteers may have failed to muster the sending of enough letters of no confidence in the Prime Minister to backbench supremo Sir Graham Brady a fortnight ago and trigger a leadership battle.

Gyimah said Saturday that the agreement was "a deal in name only".

Mrs May has said no, Labour says yes but only if it does not get a general election.

He added: "I think that the reactions to some of the Treasury analysis have been completely overblown".

And the ex-cabinet minister dismissed the suggestion this would be a "denial of the democratic rights" of the 17.4 million people who voted for Brexit.

Prime Minister’s Questions
Jeremy Corbyn has yet to confirm if he will take part in the debate

She does not wish to do that, because she fears it would make it far easier for her MPs to vote against her on December 11, because they would know their votes were conscience-salving protest votes, rather than deal-destroying and possibly government-wrecking extreme sabotage. But if faced with the threat of a calamitous no-deal Brexit, and following a narrow Commons defeat, Mrs May might fancy testing their resolve and seeing if she can win some cosmetic changes to appease enough MPs to win a second vote.

Former Downing Street advisor Alastair Campbell has said that a second referendum - a "People's Vote" - was the only way to get rid of Theresa May's Brexit agreement.

"It's about delivering the vote to leave the European Union and doing it in a way that protects people's jobs and livelihoods and protects our security and our United Kingdom".

The only party that will not support the action is the Scottish Conservatives. "What I see from Labour is an attempt to frustrate what the government is doing to deliver Brexit for the British people".

Echoing talking points already repeated in near-identical language by leaders including Theresa May and Jean-Claude Juncker themselves to the effect that there could not be any deal to the United Kingdom except the one already agreed, Polish politician turned Eurocrat Donald Tusk said at the globalist summit the only other options meant no deal. "Some things are set in treaties but no Parliament can bind its successor.we can renegotiate".

He warned that Brexit could be "in peril" if the agreement was voted down.

She said told him she was confident Japanese businesses in the United Kingdom would continue to trade well with the EU.

Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg, a staunch Brexiter who is one of the most vocal critics of the deal, said Friday that the government was trying to frighten people into accepting it with dire forecasts about the impact of leaving the European Union without an agreement.
