Raptors rout Warriors to cap season sweep

Serge Ibaka, Raptors cruise past Clippers 123-99

To drive home that this might be a special year north of the border, Toronto absolutely mashed Golden State on Wednesday night in Oracle Arena despite the fact that Kawhi Leonard didn't play.

With leading scorer Tobias Harris held to 10 points - he averages 21.4 - the Clippers were led by a pair of reserves.

Then, with Leonard watching in street clothes, Lowry followed that up by going for 23 points, five rebounds, 12 assists and three steals in Wednesday's 113-93 rout of the Warriors - a win that pushed Toronto's league-best record up to 23-7.

With the win, the Raptors completed a franchise first, sweeping California - 4-0 with wins over the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors and Kings - for the season. They got a great mix of veteran and young players.

"We knew it was going to be a challenge [without Leonard], and I thought Kyle did a phenomenal job leading our team", assistant coach Adrian Griffin said.

"I wouldn't say that beating us two times will give them extra confidence".

"They're one of the best teams in the league for a reason and their offence is so lethal that you try to take the main guys out and make them do things that they're not comfortable doing", VanVleet said.

Kyle Lowry finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Raptors while Serge Ibaka had a wonderful game with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

In a game that had no Kawhi Leonard, the Raptors took care of business again after defeating the Warriors in an overtime nail-biter a few weeks ago.

The Warriors had made at least 18 3-pointers in each of their previous three games.

They did it despite not having Leonard for a second consecutive night.

"I can't really explain it other than we're now in a place where we are defending a title", Kerr said. Golden State didn't have Stephen Curry or Draymond Green for that game, but both were back for the rematch while Leonard sat out.

The Raptors' defense was on point throughout the night against a healthy Warriors group that could never find a rhythm. VanVleet (back) started after being questionable before the game.

"If you've played in the National Basketball Association and coached in the National Basketball Association you understand it".

It is this version of Lowry - the attacking, aggressive version - that allows the Raptors to unlock their highest ceiling.
