Watch as a BBC cameraman is assaulted at Trump's rally

BBC cameraman attacked at Donald Trump El Paso rally by MAGA hat thug | Daily Star

Footage from the BBC cameraman who was attacked at President Donald Trump's rally in El Paso, Texas, on Monday, Feb. 12.

"F*** the media", he shouts during the incident.

The video shows Trump speaking at the podium, before the camera is abruptly knocked sideways.

The US President was addressing a rally in El Paso, Texas, which was being covered by a news team from the BBC.

During Monday night's rally in El Paso, the President encouraged support for his proposed border wall with Mexico to protect the U.S. against a "tremendous onslaught" of migrant caravans, violent criminals and drugs.

Last August UN experts warned Mr Trump's attacks "increase the risk of journalists being targeted with violence", calling his rhetoric "strategic".

Officials with the Trump campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

"Any guy that can do a body slam, he's my kind of - he's my guy", Trump said, according to the Washington Post.

Comment: Yet another Trump doctor has contracted Trumpitis
With the White House kitchen too understaffed to cater a meal, Mr Trump stepped in: He ordered burgers, french fries and pizza. Last month, he invited the college football champion Clemson Tigers to the White House during the partial government shutdown.

Gary O'Donoghue, the BBC's Washington correspondent, told the Today programme that the man pushed the camera into another one of his colleagues before continuing to push Skeans.

"The crowd had been whipped up into a frenzy against the media by Trump and other speakers all night", Montague tweeted.

The White House Correspondents' Association has also condemned the attack.

Footage captured of the incident on Monday evening showed the moment an angry Trump supporter attacked British BBC cameraman Ron Skeans after Trump criticized the media during his speech.

Neither the White House nor the Trump campaign issued a public apology to Skeans, and it took more than 18 hours for the president to condemn the unidentified supporter's conduct.

The man was removed by security, and Trump reportedly "checked" with the crew to make sure everything was okay. "It's important that the president at some point, sooner rather than later, goes on television - not just tweets but goes on television - and says that reporters and journalists are not enemies of the people".

Mr O'Rourke, meanwhile, held a countermarch with dozens of local civic, human rights and Hispanic groups in his hometown, followed by a protest rally attended by thousands on a baseball field within shouting distance from the arena where Mr Trump spoke.
