Smollett Appears At Hearing To Discuss Cameras In Courtroom

Jussie Smollett took advantage of brothers connected with staged attack their lawyer says

Smollett is slated to appear before a judge on Tuesday and will likely have to show up in court as the trial plays out.

Earlier today, Jussie Smollett made an appearance in court to see if cameras would or would not be allowed at his next court hearing.

After the hearing, Glandian told reporters that evidence has been presented against Smollett that is "demonstrably false".

Jussie has hired several high-powered lawyers to represent him and he is now free on $100,000 bail.

Smollett's attorney, Mark Geragos, blasted the indictment in a statement as "redundant and vindictive", adding that his client "adamantly maintains his innocence even if law enforcement has robbed him of that presumption".

"I haven't' seen one piece of evidence and they don't have one piece of evidence that they've turned over that links Jussie to this", Geragos said, referring to allegations that the attack was orchestrated.

Two brothers who authorities said took part in a staged attack on actor Jussie Smollett were "betrayed" by the celebrity, their attorney told CNN on Monday. Smollett has been accused with arranging a homophobic, racist attack against himself in an attempt to raise his profile because he was dissatisfied with his salary. CBS reported that each charge against Smollett carries a maximum weight of four years meaning that the singer could face a sentence of 64 years.

Some feel that the additional 16 charges against Smollett are overkill and unnecessary.

But the 16-page document includes other elements of the account that Smollett had stood by for weeks.

No one was happier about the ruling than Smollett, who was camera ready when he rolled up to court rocking shades, gloves, and a sleek grey trench coat - his first time being spotted since a grand jury indicted him on 16 counts last week.
